100 Years in 100 Photos

The ‘100 Years in 100 Photos: University of Economics – Varna since 1920’ project has been launched with the financial support of Varna Municipality Culture Fund.

‘100 Years in 100 Photos: University of Economics – Varna since 1920’ is a documentary exhibition tracing the history of University of Economics – Varna with archival and contemporary photographs, and copies of documents. It is part of a series of events that celebrate the 100th-year anniversary of the first higher economic school in Bulgaria.

The exhibition will be available in Varna Sea Gardens, next to the Sundial, so that it could be accessible to Varna citizens and international guests of Varna, as it offers translations in English.

This exhibition allows for the university legacy to be approachable beyond the university building, providing an opportunity to the general public to get closer to the age-old academic vibe in a more accessible urban environment.

The project aims to show young people and all other viewers the impact University of Economics – Varna has had for culture and education in this city and country.

A jubilee exhibition album is to be published and it will keep the most valuable UE – Varna archival and contemporary photographs, and copies of documents. It is intended to keep a record of this event and highlight the collaboration between the university and Varna Municipality Culture Fund.

The project has been managed by a range of UE – Varna experts. Elitsa Videnova, the project manager, is a journalist and the UE – Varna PR officer. Rositsa Zarkova, Head of the University Library, and Milena Komitska, the university advertising officer, are the project research and analysis experts. Miglena Staneva, the project coordinator, is the university programmes and projects expert. Galina Andreeva, the project accountant, works at the university finance and accounting department. Aneta Stefanova, senior lecturer with the Languages Department, has translated the texts for the exhibition.

The grand opening of the documentary exhibition will take place on 20 Oct 2020 at 11 am in Varna Sea Gardens, next to the Sundial.
